Hey ya'll!

So...Lent is almost upon us! Starting with ASH WEDNESDAY tomorrow -

Don't forget to get to Mass! This is a Holy Day of Obligation - so...get to Mass. Here are a few options (St GREG's IS NOT HAVING 6:30 a.m. MASS!):

7 am - St. Luke's
7:30 a.m. - St. Greg's
8 a.m. - St. Benedict's
9 a.m. - St. Matt's
9:30 a.m - St. Greg's
12 noon - St. Greg's/Ascension
6 p.m. - St. Greg's
7 p.m. - St. Matt's (followed by SMYG Adoration and leadership)
7:30 - St. Greg's (in Spanish)

Try to make it to the 7 p.m. Mass at St. Matt's if you can, b/c SMYG is going to have some time in Adoration then have a leadership meeting in the Old School Library until 9 - so if you have some input in what you'd like to see at SMYG, come!!!

Ash Wednesday is a day of fast and abstinence:

What that means - technically, unless sick, all 18-59 may eat only 1 full meal, w/ no snacks and only 2 small meals. everyone 14 and up (and not sick) is to abstain from eating meat. I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU even if you aren't 18...to make it be a day of fast and abstinance. Offer it up as a prayer for someone you love!

Friday - every Friday in lent is a day of abstinence (don't eat meat) and the stations of the cross are every Friday at 7 p.m. in the church. Participating is a great way to pray through lent - and altar servers are always needed, so if you get there a few min early and can help, please do! There is also a fish fry put on by the Knights in the School Cafeteria before stations every week.

Saturday -

Consider your Call: From 10 a.m. to 12 noon at St. Nicholas' Parish - a chance for GUYS AND GIRLS to talk about vocations and hear from the director of vocations in our Diocese. If you are interested in going and need more info, shoot me  an e-mail!

Ultimate Frisbee
- 1-3 p.m. at Woodstock Park

DADDY/ DAUGHTER ST. VALENTINE’S DAY DANCE: (The thing Catherine has been talking about!!!)6:30P.M. – 10:00 P.M. at THE UPPER DECK - 206 16. Hosted by St. Benedict’s Chapel - TO BENEFIT THE BUILDING FUND/DOOR PRIZES AND RAFFLES Contact Angie for tickets & information: 647-5062 $45 a couple ($7.00 each additional daughter). *ALSO FOR GRANDFATHERS/GRANDAUGHTERS!!!! http://stbenedict-chesapeake.com/bulletin/

Sunday -

SMYG from 7-9 p.m., Old School Library! Be there!

And that's what's up this week! Next week will be a P&W jamming week on Tuesday night. March 3rd.

Hey guys!

So here's what's up this week w/ SMYG -

Friday-Sunday - the REZ! People on the Rez, you'll get an e-mail from me.

Saturday - 1-3 Ultimate Frisbee at Woodstock Park.

Sunday - SMYG at 7 in the OSL (Old school library). It's going to be a FUN night - let me just say that!!! :-) For the OSL - enter through the back door - across from the Adoration chapel/behind the dumpster.

SUMMA TIME - Yes, think about it now!

So the trips going down this summer -

Diocesan Youth Convention - July 24-26 Get together w/ youth from around the Diocese for a retreat/convention at William and Mary

Domestic Mission Trip (to Central VA) - July 25-Aug 1

So...what's up with Wednesdays and Tuesdays?

Now that we have space for small groups, we're no longer having "small groups" on Wednesdays. Instead, we'll meet every other Wednesday for Adoration from 7-8 and then SMYG leadership from 8-9. So if you're interested in getting your prayer on and have some input about SMYG, that's the time to come!!

This will start NEXT week on the 25th - we'll start with Ash Wednesday Mass then hang out in the OSL (old school library) until 9.

So for Feb/March during the week:

Friends, nobles, countrymen…

Here’s what’s going on in the next few weeks with SMYG!

The big move to the old school library is delayed another week – we’re going to make the move on Sunday the 15th.

The Rez Reteat - Feb. 20-22! Get your FORMS IN ASAP!!! Bring them this Wednesday to small groups if you haven't gotten them in already. Call Ashley if you have any questions. If you are going - can your parents help with transportation?

Small groups! This Wednesday from 7-9…don’t miss it! Start in the Adoration Chapel at 7 then the girls meet in the front office and the boys meet in the back of the office. If you’re late and we’re not in the chapel anymore, walk through the door to the offices and girls turn right, boys turn left.

Saturday from 1-3 – Ultimate Frisbee at Woodstock Park

Sunday SMYG – 7-9 Topic is TBA – depending on if some guest speakers can make it! We are STAYING in the White House this Sunday and moving the following week to the Old Library.

Tuesday the 10th – band practice INSTEAD of this Tuesday – had to move the date b/c of a conflict I forgot about… We’ll meet in the white house.

20 January 2009 @ 01:57 pm

The March for life is this week! If you can make it or not, please be praying. Jan. 22 marks the 36th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision that made abortion legal in the United States.

March for Life trips: Those of us going on the 2 day trip – see you at 7 a.m. on Wednesday. Those going on the bus – we’ll meet up with you for the march!

No small groups: Since so many people will be out of town this week, there will be no small groups on Wednesday night. If you have the time planned on – PLEASE still go to the chapel and PRAY FOR LIFE!

This weekend:

Saturday – 1-3 Frisbee at Woodstock

Sunday – 2-5 Life 101: Pro-life training! If you’ve ever been unsure about how to talk to someone considering abortion – GO TO THIS TRAINING! It’s in the Assembly hall, it’s free….and it’s important stuff.

SMYG – Sunday from 7-9. Topic: Fight Like a Catholic – “handling disagreement like a Christian” yah. I know I get worked up sometimes and it’s cool to have some ideas of how to keep your cool and get through to someone!

The ministries fair is extended - if you can come by after any of the Masses and chill by the SMYG table, that’d be awesome!

UP AHEAD –

Valentine’s Day – it’s Feb 14 and NOT that far away! We’re going to talk this Sunday at SMYG about what we want to do for the banquet this year.

The Rez retreat is coming! Feb. 20-22 – get your registration forms IN!
